Changelog:

  • June 24, 2021:
    • After working with the mounting rack in practice for a while, I have significantly optimized the dimensions.
    • In particular, it is now much taller, so that there is also enough space for the motor underneath. Now the mounting rack is suitable for all reasonable orientations of the Tefifon known to me.
    • Also the parts have been modified to bend less and the distances to the Tefifon have been minimized. So the Tefifon sits in the rack much more stable.
    • Please note that the screw locations on the plate have changed!
  • June 7, 2021:
    • Fixed some dimensions and improved the look
  • June 6, 2021:
    • Improved the design by adding an additional step for holding the top of the device when it is not held by screws
    • rounded some edges

Description

When restoring old Tefifon units I found it very difficult to work on the chassis without damaging delicate parts. So I designed this simply mounting rack.

Simply print the 4 corners (PETG, 0.3mm layer height), get a 301mm x 193mm plate and mount the corners with 12 pcs 3mm … 3,5mm countersunk screws. The outermost screws must be mounted at a distance of 250mm / 140mm to exactly match the size of the device:

Now you can put the rack on to of the Tefifon and flip it upside-down:

So you can work on the underside of the device without any worries:

In the most current version of the design it also can be used to just hold the top part of the Tefifon (the chassis):

And you then can even flip this part and there is enough space for the motor underneath:

The finishing touch

Since the rack is now frequently in use, I have embellished and waxed the plate. I also bolted rubber feet in original Tefifon design to the bottom:

Design and Source Code

The corners have been designed using OpenSCAD. I have provided the source code for download, so you can adjust the design to your needs.

Happy printing!
