What you will need:

  • 2 x m3x14 screws from the Prusa Research spare parts bag (I might be wrong, but that is why I left the dimensions below)
  • 2 x m3 square nuts also from the Prusa Research spare parts bag

Print Settings:

All parts are printed using 0.3mm layer height (draft). The T shaped part that connects the modular box to the printer as well as the modular box will need supports (in the case of the T shaped part, if its printed horizontally, it might not need supports, however I did not print it like that.) Happy printing!

Instructions:

Once you have all the parts printed, the first step is to put in the square nuts into the printed nuts like so:

Once they are in, you screw in the screws a tiny bit into the nut. You then fit it into the aluminum extrusion like so:

Put it in and twist 90 degrees to get this:

Now, slowly unscrew the screw so that the nut does not turn and stands vertically. you can pull on the screw while unscrewing to keep the nut vertically or use the Allen key provided with the printer to keep it in place while unscrewing.

Now, screw in the screw into the T shaped part such that just a little bit of the screw is seen on the other side.

Place the part such that the two extruded horns line up with the outer edges of the nut that is already placed in the aluminum extrusion. There is a small groove on the T shaped part that allows you to put the part on the flange of the aluminum extrusion.

Slowly, screw in the screw until it catches the square nut. Once you feel it screwed in properly (firmly), unscrew it a little bit and align it with the cutouts in the modular box.

Once they are aligned, screw them in (be careful, they move a lot sometimes) and put the modular box on. It will be a tight fit. If you pull on it vertically upwards however, it should easily come off. You are done!

More modular boxes to come!

PS. The gcode is for the left box. I only printed the left one for now.
