I wanted to create the most simple tree tap for harvesting tree sap for syrup. All you need:

  1. This tap

  2. 1/2" tubing - the more flexible the better

  3. Something to catch sap, something like a milk jug or growler

That's it!

The order I do this in is first I find a tree. Next, set the bucket or jug down where its' going to live on the ground. Next, I cut my tubing to size so that it's supported mostly by the tap. I then put the tap in so the cone side is in the tube. Then, simply drill a 3/8" hole pointing a little downwards on the south side of your tree that's about 2" deep and put your tap in quickly after.

You should see sap flowing in about a minute. Make sure your tube doesn't have a trap in it and you'll be harvesting sap in no time.

Print settings:

Infill - 100%

Layer height - .2mm

I use a raft to help secure it to the print bed. Ymmv and it's totally unnecessary if you have a super sticky bed.
