PVB Hour Glass - OpenHardware inspired

Open Hardware (Logo) inspired hour glass to go nuts with PVB smooting. Well more like 4-5 minute glass... but anyway ;-)

Description:

Well, since it's contest time (haha, punny 🙄) i finaly had a nice use for my PVB spool.
So here you go!

The design is somewhat inspired by the OpenHardware Logo from the prusa sticker sheet.
I wanted to keep the harsh cornered theme, so i designed kind of a low poly taper.
Intended to be printed in smothed PVB or other transparent material. (edit: SLA might be nice here)

Print Instructions:

Either use the provided gCode if possible (0.4mm, MK3S, Prusament PVB) or make sure to slow the speed way down in the middle section. As it tends to fail, if the material has not enough time to cool down.
Vase mode of course BUT with zero top/bottom layers - brim/raft not recommended!
Set extrusionwidth to 0.6 to 0.75mm for all perimeters.
External Perimeter 30, small perimeter 5mm/s (!) worked fine for me.
Although the walls in the model are 0,8mm thick, so you might also do “normal” prints with two standard perimeters.

For the lids, have one top and one bottom layer and choose some fancy patterns. I chose concentric bottom and octragram top - add up to some nice snowflaky pattern after smoothing. 2-3 Perimeter again at 0.75mm

Post Processing:

My prototype was smoothed 7 runs by brushing with 99% IPA.
Make sure to have it fully evaporated before adding sand/gravel, so it does not stick to the still tacky material (like on my first try)
Glue one lid in. (did it by brushing IPA to the lid and setting the glass in place)
Add fine sand and maybe do some test runs to adjust for some more or less precise time, and finaly add the other lid as done with the first.
I had to give the bottleneck a slight scratch with a round file, since it clogged up with sand after all the smoothing. (should be around 2-2.3mm in diameter)

Updates:

20210529 - Added a "Version 2" which is a little smaller and slimmer with a slightly larger (3mm) bore in the middle and some Golden Ratios here and there for esthetics. (not tested yet)
