Use case

This kit consists of a generic frame for 2D-printed or hand-written labels. It comes with gluing templates that fit exactly to IKEA Samla boxes (on the small side for 22 liter and 11 liter boxes and on the wider side for 5 liter boxes). The templates make sure that all labels sit exactly in the middle of the box and at 50mm height from the surface the box stands on.

Printing

I recommend to print the frame from PETG, which allows to glue it with a hot-glue gun to the boxes. The big advantage is that hot-glue holds quite well on the boxes, but can be removed without any stains (no guarantee, it worked for me like that).

For the gluing templates, I recommend PLA, as small stains of hot glue can easily be removed with your fingernail.

Assembly

I have put one strain of hot glue on the left side and the right side of each frames back side, then pushed it right into the template that I held with my other hand to the box.

Labels

I have used LEITZ laminating pouches at a size of 95x65mm for the labels that I printed on a common 2D ink-jet printer. I left the original width of 65mm, which makes them fit exactly into the frame. I did cut the label in height to 40mm, which makes them fit height-wise into the frame. With this trick you can generate 2 labels per laminating pouch.

If you want to simply print 2D labels or cut out paper slips to hand-write on, you need to make them 65x40 in size.
