Acrylic Painting Pour Star

I saw someone on the tube making a really cool pattern using the bottom of a cup. I didn't have any cool faceted bottom cups, but I do have OpenSCAD and a printer!

This is purely a functional item, so I designed and printed with a 0.8mm nozzle in mind. You can use any size nozzle, but precision isn't important.

Due to the shape, supports in the center *are* required! I used a cylinder that was just a bit smaller than the center. I didn't bother getting all of the support material out.

In use it's simple, put the star on your canvas and pour paint into the top. As it overflows, it runs down the little channels and onto your canvas. The trick is getting the star up. I used the slicer and created some 10x10x2 tabs to glue onto the side to get them up.

I was tempted to sand or prime these to prevent paint from seeping through but that turns out to not matter. I rinsed off the paint with water and after drying for a day or 2 I think these will be re-usable for quite a while.
