Project was put on hold for now because I lost the license to the software I was creating the roads in. But even so I think there is enough variants to create an interesting city network.
A modular set of roads.
- The individual pieces can be connected together invisibly on the bottom
- The white stripes can be printed in color by printing in white and switching the filament to black for the last two layers (it is optimized for 0.15mm layer size and 0.4mm nozzle - the g-code for two color print is included).
- Suitable for small cars like this one: https://www.printables.com/cs/model/10649-surprise-egg-3-tiny-wheel-loader
- I am adding additional pieces over time. Piece sizes are typically multiplies of 4x4cm (I call this a 1x1 square) and they will always be printable using a small area up to 18x18 cm, i.e. on Prusa Mini.
- Naming: road_N_some-name_XxY, where:
- N is number of directions this road connects to (e.g. 2 for a straight road, 4 for a full crossroad)
- XxY is the number of 4x4cm tiles this road occupies
- roads with arrows have three digits in the names, e.g. 110 - they denote the presence of left, middle, right arrow. (in this case left and middle would be present, but not the right)
- Set currently contains:
- A connector for connecting any two pieces
- Straight road (empty, dashed, full line; with / without side connections to parking, …)
- Simple 90° turn
- Simple crossroad (empty, with straight main road, 1 or 2 side roads)
- A bigger 3x3 crossroad with pedestrian crosswalks
- Parking (with or without P sign)
- All roads can be printed without supports. There is a slight problem with bridges for the road_3_ and road_4_ pieces as there is sometimes less space for the connector due to slight overhanging. That's why I modified those pieces to have more space there and after the printing I am sometimes removing the few overhanging strings manually
