Latest update: I have uploaded STEP file. You can use it to help yourself with assembly.

Note that this mod may require you to use different power supply (PSU) unit such as Mornsun LOF225 due to position of geared stepper. When using LOF225, it is possible to mount two PSUs thus powering steppers with high voltage (48V or 55V). Complete mod is available here.

BOM:

Print instructions

Print all models (choose Stock or Kirigami bed) with at least 4 perimeters and 40% infill. Parts have to be strong. Print in default orientation as parts are already oriented for maximum strength. V0Belted-BeltHoldTop comes in two variants - one with 3.1mm hole and one with 3mm hole for dowel pin. First print 3.1mm version. If you do not struggle when inserting dowel pin, then print 3mm version. Dowel pin needs to be tight fit, so it doesn't get loose during operation. For some parts, you may have issues with layer adhesion and warping. If that is the case, use brim.

Assembly instructions

Use provided STEP file to check out if you have any issues during assembly. STEP also contains fasteners.

Prepare Geared stepper by mounting drive pulley.

Prepare V0Belted-BeltHoldTop by installing heated inserts and idler pulley with dowel pin.

Install heatinserts into V0Belted-BeltHoldUpper and V0Belted-BeltHoldLower.

Mount stepper using V0Belted-StepperPGMount and install V0Belted-TopMount at the top. FHCS screws are used for V0Belted-TopMount at the top.

Cut exactly 46cm of the belt. Attach one end (using V0Belted-BeltHoldUpper or V0Belted-BeltHoldLower) - but do not screw it yet. Next, screw V0Belted-BedAttachment or V0Belted-BedAttachment-Kirigami to the bed and run the belt around. Then attach another end of the belt using V0Belted-BeltHoldUpper or V0Belted-BeltHoldLower. When running belt through BeltHold, refer to the following image:

Belt should not stick out at the end.

Use M3x25mm BHCS to tighten down block consisting of BedAttachment and BeltHoldUpper and BeltHoldLower.

At the end, use top middle FHCS screws to adjust tension approximately equally each screw. Move bed to the top position. Pluck the belt connecting stepper with the bed mount. It should be approximately 110Hz for ideal tension.

Klipper config

If using BOM recommended geared stepper with 5:1 gear ratio, then:

[stepper_z]
...
rotation_distance: 40
gear_ratio: 57:11
...

You can also increase homing speed. Under [printer] section, you can increase max_z_velocity and max_z_accel.

Changelog

RC2:

  • Modified StepperPGMount so it doesn't interfere with power inlet

RC1:
