Motivated by the business card case design by @LoboCNC, and thanks to LoboCNC's permissive license, I was able to apply some refinements to the design.
Improvements:
Strengthened the “snake” spring force - PLA is still recommended.
Slotted the button for better grip and traction against your fingers as you slide it.
The top part is left blank so you can customize it with your name or company logo.
The 2 slots on the button are now 2 different sizes to keep it oriented correctly, for error free assembly.
Rounded out the leaf spring ends to promote lower friction against the cards.
Added some missing chamfers.
STEP files and Solidworks files included for you to customize - this is done in the same spirit and license as what @LoboCNC designated.
NOTE: Depending on your card stock thickness and surface roughness/treatments, you may only be able to get as little as 12 cards into this card case and still be able to eject it out smoothly. Experiment using your specific card stock to determine what works for your cards.
Printing Recommendations:
Print leaf springs in PETG for elasticity - PLA has higher tendency to take a set over time.
Print leaf springs with adhesion helper disks at each end to minimize print failure - otherwise the part may not have enough surface area to stick to the print sheet.
The pattern you see in the pictures is from the use of “Hilbert Curve” infill for the bottom (first) layer. This, combined with a dual-extruded color silk PLA filament, produces alternating colors in the Hilbert pattern, which I think is interesting!
Post Processing Tips:
On the Top Blanked part - make sure there are not remnant filament “boogers” at the feature where it catches the card edge to eject it. Making sure that area is clean helps ensure a successful ejection each time.
Use super glue to glue on the leaf springs, button, and slot cover. Only a small amount is needed.
A small C-clamp is recommended to hold the button in place while the glue dries.
After placing a dab of glue on each leaf spring, load it with some cards and push them down evenly on the leaf springs. Then assemble the bottom to the top and use the spring force from each leaf spring to help hold them in place while the glue dries.
Use an X-acto blade to release the “snake” springs from the top part. Do this gently and a little at a time, alternating each side, until the entire length of both springs are freed up.
Don't forget to remove the built-in supports at the card exit slot (on the Top Blanked part).
Usage Notes:
For 0.4mm thick card stock, no more than 15 cards are recommended.
Experiment how many of your cards can fit.
