 Recommended Settings.

  • no supports
  • PLA (must be dry!)
  • 0.2 millimeter layer height
  • 2mm brim or raft
  • 0.1mm Z-Hop + retraction
  • Slow speed
  • 210C Nozzle
  • 60C Bed
  • Infill 50%+
  • 2 thick walls, or up to 4 walls if scaled-up
  • 4 tops/bottoms

Illustration is scaled 0.75 Z, so links are almost square. Printing up to double height also looks nice and phat.

Edges may curl or weld onto other edges unsatisfactorily. Try another filament, and inspect the layers in the slicer before printing to make sure adjacent links are not bridging together. Brim is a pain to remove. But you may have to use one, if links keep popping off the build plate. This will test your printer's tuning and retraction settings! Use overhang profile with good extrusion width on outer perimeters.

Bend carefully at first to break links apart. Remove sharp edges and clear away stringing with a heat gun set to 150°C, or by passing over an open flame. This is kind of an art in itself.

Manually weld ends together with heat iron, lighter flame, CVA glue, or design a 3D printed clasp.
