Yet another spool system. Yes, another spool system. YO! ANOTHER SPOOL SYSTEM.

Okay, got that out.

This one is unlike most others in that you can chain them to another. So you get the advantages of having a long beam (mainly, stops spools from twisting in place or otherwise getting out of alignment), but the ease of replacement of roller stands. You can change spools out one at a time in a dry box.

The beam has a bump and divot so they'll line up even if you're space constrained (I use 5 each in my dry boxes). There are indentations on the bottom of the beam to help place it properly on the sides.

The 3MF file has all the parts arranged so you can print in a single plate, and uses what I recommend – normal sides and the spacers with pegs. Just press the pegs into the sides and they'll stay there.

If you want long sides like the original, the file is provided, but be warned – they're really long. They don't fit on the bottom of my 50L dry boxes. You can also get spacers with just holes so you can use bolts if you want (5mm or about 3/16").

Printing instructions – I used PLA, which should be fine as long as you don't put the spool stand inside a dryer. If you're somehow doing that, use PETG or better. And tell me how.

Printed with 20% infill, 4 walls, 2 layers top/bottom. The sides will be marginally stronger printed upright, but it really shouldn't matter.

Model available on OnShape at request.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Beam: Lengthened, rounded the top, added positive lock stops, added inset for the sides.

Side: Reduced size of holes, shortened.

Spacers: changed to use pegs so no bolts required.
