This here is a relatively simple Yoga mat carrier, designed to allow you to carry your yoga mat in a somewhat more civilized way than stuffing it into a bag or sticking it under your arm. I designed it because I walked past a yoga studio and marvelled at all the various ways people find of carrying Yoga mats away from class, and none of the solutions seemed great.
To assemble it you will require the following
2x m3 heat set inserts, with an outer diameter of 5mm, and ideally a length of 5mm
2x m3 screws - around 8mm in length is fine, with a head size of around 6mm (although anything between 4-7mm should work)
Two strips of elastic with Velcro on either side of width from 15mm to 30mm - The dollar store near to me sells these as Utility straps.
This is a 3 part model:
The main-bar - I've included variants with holes for the straps of size 18mm, 23mm, 28mm, or 33mm. Pick the size that suits your strap the best!
The handle
(Optional) a cover, that you will glue to the main-bar using super-glue or similar. Recommended if your yoga mat is particularly heavy or you want something extra durable. If you're using this part, I also recommend having some clamps on hand along with some glue of your choice.
All parts are sized so that they'll fit on a 180x180 print area if placed diagonally. You may need to rotate the models to get them to fit.
Assembly:
Print the main-bar, I recommend you print it on its side (ie, strap holes are facing in the Z direction). I recommend 5 top and bottom layers, and at least 30% infill using your favourite 3d infill (Gyroid works for me!). Layer height doesn't hugely matter unless aesthetics are a concern. Supports should not be necessary but feel free to use them if you're worried!
Print the handle so that the holes are facing in the Z direction. No supports required. I recommend using a lower layer height for this to make the handle less rough to hold. Adaptive layers work well for this part.
(Optional) Print the cover solid (Just adjust the number of bottom layers to something silly like 50. No supports required.
Insert your heat set inserts into the handle. I recommend pushing them in slightly further than the ends of the handle so that the handle will sit flush with the main bar when screwed together.
Use your screws through the larger side of the hole, and screw your handle to the main bar. Feel free to add a little Loctite or a little dab of superglue here if you're worried about the screw unscrewing. The smaller side of the holes is sized so that the screw barely fits, so it may thread into the plastic. Do not worry about preserving these threads, just tighten the screw until the handle doesn't move anymore.
Insert your elastic velcro straps through the holes on either end.
(Optional) glue the cover into place using the provided locator pins in the screw holes. This hides the screws, and adds a little extra rigidity to the bar. Use clamps or cleverly placed weight to squeeze the cover and main bar together.
