Drywall Stud Finder

This is a simple drywall stud finder. It uses a strong neodymium magnet to detect drywall screws which indicates possible stud locations. Move the stud finder across the wall until the center indicator starts to rattle and snaps in place, marking a screw location.

Features:

• Does not smudge the wall like bare magnets might do.
• Both visual and audible feedback by the indicator when nearing a screw head.

Printing tips:

• Add pause print for embedding strong neodymium magnet in the internal pocket.
• Files available for different magnet diameters:
  • ⌀13mm (0.5 inch), up to 3mm thickness
  • ⌀10mm, up to 3mm thickness
  • ⌀6mm, up to 6mm thickness (stack 2 or 3 if thin magnets)
• Thinner magnets also work but it is recommended to stack as many as can fit for better holding power.
• It's a very easy print, any regular print settings should work.

2024 January 6, Update: Size for ⌀6mm magnets added

New stl for 6mm diameter magnets available. I have tested and it works fine but definitely recommend stacking 2 or 3 magnets if they are thin and not very strong.
