Sometimes I need to sand or polish a small area. I don't like to prepare then my belt or vibration sanders. That is why I designed this very simple flexible disk to be used by a handheld battery drill or screwdriver. It will accept standard 50 mm pads with a soft velcro back as sold in my local hardware store.

Thanks to a flexible joint it will stay parallel to the surface.

It is best to start by placing the disk on the surface to polish and then slowly start the rotation.

Printing is easy. I used PLA. PETG might be a bit stronger and/or brittle.
I printed with 0.15 layer and 20% 3D honeycomb infill.

For the flexible joint you can use pieces of filament. The hole in the “connector” is 2.1 mm diameter and should be OK. The other holes are designed to be 1.8 mm and might be a bit tight because of printing deformation (is a horizontal hole). When necessary you can ream it with a 1.8 mm drill. You can also glue the filament pieces in the forks to secure them in place.

When ready glue pieces of velcro on the disk to hold the pads in place.

I wish you happy sanding. Please let me know when you print it.
