We lost an umbrella two years ago from the wind, so we bought a new one and I used bungee cords around it. However, the bungee cords keep going bad, so I decided to make this up and see how it does.
I had to use PETG since it's outside, and I really wanted to try for a print in place. The first iteration had .01" gap between the pieces, and that did not work. Couldn't get them to separate. I did it with .02" gap and it worked… they were a little tough to separate, but they eventually came loose. Only problem was the PETG bridges so badly that the surface finish was pretty rough on each of the hinges and the clip.
Also somehow I totally botched the size of the screw and nut… originally was planning an M3 nut but it doesn't fit. So, I just used an M2, which is a little too small, but I was able to use my razor blade to stick in the side to get the screw and nut to tighten.
I included the Fusion file in case you want to fix the nut and screw. I didn't bother since this version worked well enough. If you also have a better magic recipe for the gaps for print in place, you're welcome to run with it.
