Updated Feb 11, 2024: I added a version that has a small hole at the top of the hexagon to allow a push pin to hold the dust catcher in place.

**********

After using a few dust collectors available on Printables.com, I've taken notes of their features and foibles and came up with one that combines the best features of them all.

NOTE: this model may look similar to another from @Bearlord but I've modeled it from scratch, reused the hexagon shape, and made it a more compact size.

These features include:

  1. A one piece design.
  2. A dust spray shield to prevent the dust from spraying upward when drilling at high speeds (and direct it into the collector instead).
  3. A taper for the center drill hole to let more of the dust naturally fall into the collector.
  4. A dust pour spout to make it more comfortable and user-friendly to empty the collector.
  5. A smaller efficiently sized design - a bigger one only takes up more space but doesn't help get the job done any better. And a smaller one would put your fingers too close to the drill bit, in case you slip up - this one is sized to help you avoid injury.

     5. A cutout in the spray shield to provide visibility of the drill hole location as shown below.

     6. Enough clearance of the collector to clear the drill chuck itself - especially useful when drilling with small drill bits and the chuck needs to get really close to the wall.

     7. Don't need a vacuum - much easier to set up, use, and put away.

     8. Compact - easy to store.

     9. Prints without supports.

     10. STEP file included to help with remixing.

Recommendations:

  1. Perfect model to use PLA.
  2. 0.2mm layers and 0.4mm nozzle.
  3. 2-3mm brim highly desirable.

Remember, you can earn some Prusameters if you post a pic of your make!  Plus, it would just make my day. ;-D

Happy Printing!
