This towel clip uses a ratcheting mechanism to firmly grip onto towels. It is heavily inspired by some commercial straps that are made for attaching pacifiers to baby strollers.

Variants

I made three variants with hooks of different diameter: 10mm, 12mm, 15mm. If you need a different diameter, feel free to leave a comment.

Printing

Material: I suggest PETG, because a little flex, springiness and strong layer adhesion is needed. According to a Make, ABS works, too. If printed from PLA, the latch is prone to breaking, so PLA is discouraged.

Support: The fastener requires a bit of support, because the shape of the sidewalls is not straight (for design reasons) and thus cannot be printed only by using bridging. PETG doesn't bridge well anyway. I used organic/tree support to avoid printing support onto the part itself.

Assembly

Slide the latch over the hook portion onto the clip and press it into the groove. It is not meant to fit over the ‘mouth’ portion and you will have a hard time trying to slide it over that part.
