Ultimately, it's a cleaner result and the center of the spool is the right color. While I lost the spiral winding, the filament is smoother.

Main thing is crafting so it can be printed in two colors, and have the center of the spool still match the outside of the spool without revealing the filament color. I smoothed out the filament perimeter, but lost the spiral winding. That is too hard to notice anyway.
Because the top part of the print spool is an overhang, it needs to be printed in two parts. Superglue is a great thing.
I also added a screw hole for 6-32 threads, the most common in the U.S.
