Description

PDF

The “HDD Bracket” from the original model has a cutout that pressure fits a SATA combo connector (i.e. power + data).  The author recommends gluing it in place.  This is a clip you can use instead of glue.

This clip fits onto the existing bracket to hold the cable captive.  This will allow you to replace drives with zero worry about whether the connector has come loose.  You will need to drill a hole for another threaded insert.

Installation steps:

  1. Position drive
  2. Plug in cable, push in as far as you can.
  3. Fix clip into position.
  4. Use a small drill bit to start a hole where the screw needs to go.  Don't go deep yet.
  5. Remove the cable clip, cable and drive.
  6. With the small drill bit finish drilling all the way through.
  7. Use a larger drill bit (I recommend 11/64", but anything close to 4mm will work) drill the hole again to make it wider.
  8. Place the threaded insert into the hole.
  9. Repeat steps 1-3
  10. Screw in clip

The author remixed this model.
