Hey there, 3D printing enthusiasts! I've got something hex-cellent to share with you today!

The whole concept of this project is based around interlocking hexagons, allowing you to configure the easel, rinse cup, brush holders, and other painting helpers you print in multiple creative ways.

To get started, just print a couple of the hexagon base pieces, and fit them together in any shape or design you want. From there, just print some paint helpers you want with their hexagon bases that I have in the files below, and attach them to your hexagon configuration in any way you need! The awesome thing about this is that you can find your other favorite paint helper 3D models, and simply put them onto the hexagon base STL file. Then, you can have all your favorite paint helpers in your customizable setup!

There are some things to keep in mind for each model when printing it, discussed below:

  • The base hexagon (base_hexagon_tessellating_piece) is rather large, so you may want to print it with a low infill to conserve filament and reduce the print time. (15% works fine).
  • The brush rinse cup (paintbrush_rinse_water_cup) requires supports, as it contains a couple of overhangs. Again, use low infill, too.
  • The brush holder (paintbrush_holder) is also large, so keep the infill low. There are no overhangs, though, and it prints fine without supports.
  • The easel (painting_easel) is big, so use low infill again. It also needs supports; I recommend Organic (Tree) supports because grid supports take too long and don't adapt very well to this type of model.
  • The paint bottle holder (bottle_holder) has no overhangs, so no supports are necessary. And hopefully by now it is becoming obvious that all the models should be printed with low infill for good print speed…
  • The paint tray (paint_tray) also has no overhangs, and yes, requires low infill for fast print times. It is probably one of the faster prints in this project, though, as the duvets decrease print time a bit.

Other than that, there isn't much to say, so download the files and have an awesome time printing!
