The RTL-SDR Blog V series is a decent little receiver, but as a dongle it hangs delicately off of a PC's USB port and is easily broken, especially when used portable with a laptop. This case securely encloses and supports the dongle and uses a USB extender cable to the computer, which is much more robust. Additionally, a heatsink can be located in the top opening in case the dongle gets too hot, which is not uncommon at VHF and higher frequencies. Or you can just leave the heatsink out and allow the heat to escape from the top's opening. Far more protective than the dongle itself.
