Simple portable box that forms a board for a small board game.  I made this as a replacement for one of my kids.

The playing surface is 180mm x 180mm.  It is divided into 2 sections each 180mm x 90mm.

You can rescue a broken board or simply create your own to glue into the top section.  The recess is 1.2mm deep so your playing surface should not exceed that thickness.

It uses magnets for a nice satisfying snap when closing. Other than the magnets and the board pattern, everything is 3D printed.  For the “rod” of the hinge, you can use two pieces of filament.

  • Supports required
  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 2 6mm x 3mm neodymium magnets
  • superglue (for glueing magnets)
  • Contact adhesive (for gluing the playing surface in place).
  • rectilinear infill suggested (to avoid pitting as seen on my photos).
  • PLA friendly design.
  • On-shape link available on request.

It is probably not perfect, but for me it printed perfectly with the supports coming off and leaving a clean surface where you can glue the playing surface into place.

It will consume roughly 120g (40m) of PLA
