This wind simulation kit consists of a base mount that is supposed to be mounted on an aluminum extrusion rig and multiple duct designs that can be mounted on top of it.
The base mount holds a 140mm fan - the design is optimized for a specific one: The Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM 140mm 4-pin
On top of this mount holding the fan there are two types of ducts that can be mounted on the base with M4 screws:
- a low variant: Three round ducts that sit directly on the extrusion the base is mounted on
- a high variant: One small and long rectangular fan duct that is a bit higher and also shorter than the low version. Allows to fit a dashboard in front of it (see photos)
To implement the solution shown in this video I used the following hardware & software:
Videos
- Video of fully operational simulator
- Video of base mounts without ducts and SimHub
Software
- SimHub (free)
Example Hardware
- 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM 140mm 4-pin
- 1x Arduino Uno
- Power Supply DC 12V 4A 2.1/2.5mm x 5.5mm (including the dc jack adapter)
- 12x 4-PIN Fan extender cables 26.5 cm length
- Some pin headers to solder the 4-pin fan cables onto
Hardware wiring & control software
Wiring examples can be found on the ShakeIt SimHub wiki page. Note that there are also alternative solutions to drive the fans.
