Products Used:

  • Any PETG
  • Any COB LED will do. I used https://a.co/d/3dzjYSS but if I had to do it over again, I would use an addressable Color LED. When doing Time-lapse photos with the inferior P1P camera, being able to adjust the color produces better filming when using different color PLA.
  • D-Ring seal(Optional) only needed if you want to better control the temperature for ABS print. https://a.co/d/hgAJAPR
  • 3M dual-lock fasteners(mandatory) use this to fasten the riser while still allowing for removal. DO NOT USE Velcro. This product is used to hold toll tags to windshields do it is ideal for heated area use.

First, let me give a shoutout to @Daniel_205668 for providing STEP files which made this whole adaptation possible.  I will pay it forward and also include STEP files for the next person who wants to enhance this effort.

This was adapted for a couple of goals:

  • I eliminated the TPU gasket and extended the bezel to create an outer rim shade for offset illumination.

This resulted in a reduction of glare during time-lapse photos to help compensate for the inferior chamber camera on the P1P. This was achieved by reversing the placement of the LED strip to face away from the chamber.

  • Make it easier to install the LED strip without the need to cut the strip by reversing the LED.
  • Created a flat area large enough to accept an LED controller using just double sided adhesive
  • .
  • Labeled the parts to more easily identify assembly order order as
    • BL for Back Left
    • BR for Back Right
    • FR for Front Right
    • FL for Front Left
  •

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Yet another LED riser that is a remix of a remix of a remix. Differences as follows:

  1. LED strip has been reversed to face towards the interior of the bezel. This serves to provide indirect lighting with less glare while being easier to install the strip without the need to cut.
  2. A back plate was added to provide for a flat surface to adhere an off the shelf LED strip controller using double sided tape.
  3. Labeled the parts so that it was more obvious if parts were in the wrong order before gluing.
  4. Provided to small cut-piece examples for fitment tests so that one did not have to commit to an entire print before making adjustments to X-Y hole and X-Y contour. These pieces print quickly to allow for fitment testing of the notched slots.
