The Flatliner is an update to the classic nib holder design, with features and specialization for modern cartooning and calligraphy. Designed and refined by working professionals, the Flatliner includes:
This pen was designed by Halftone Hospital, an ongoing project to provide free-use, open tools for cartoonists and artists with a special focus in black and white comics.
The nib assembly fits larger nibs like G-nibs or Speedballs, as well as smaller nibs like mapping nibs and Hunt 102's.
When printing, the barrel should be on it's side with the plus facing DOWN, with 100% infill. The nib assembly and cap should be standing on their ends and printed with a brim. If you print the branded cap, the plus insert is simply press fit into the hole. The simple pen cap doesn't have the plus insert and is printed in one piece.
I print my own pens in PLA or Inland's Tough PLA, but the nib assembly and cap could be printed in PETG to good effect. The snaps in the cap can be a little brittle in PLA, especially in the first few clicks.
