Simple design to angle the grinder to be level, helps the beans feed in when you have used water droplets to help reduce static, the water can make the beans stick to the feeding chamber. If you don't want to deal with the potential plastic contamination of a proper distributor in the chamber then this will help. 

It also means you can fit a bit more into the hopper without risking spilling it over the edge.

Print with a little higher infill if you care about surface quality, otherwise 5% gyroid is fine because it's hidden anyway. Doesn't need much strength at all.
