I bought this cute little bat neon from HobbyCraft while out with friends, and was a little dissapointed to find out when I got home that it ran on three AA batteries.

I have designed this parametric base for this and other HobbyCraft LED “neon”s using the same mounting mechanism. In order to run it at full brightness you will need a mosfet to control the 5V input to the ESP32. Here's the one I used:

I would advise against running this at full power (5v) for too long because the base of the LEDs themselves get quite toasty and warped one of the PLA test iterations.  You will need some basic soldering skills to put this together, and I found it useful to crimp a 3 pin JST connector to the wires connecting to the ESP32 to avoid permenant damage to it due to my lack of soldering experience.

This project is a work in progress and I'm planning on adding more detailed instructions on wiring and assembly.
