I was always unhappy with the dust collection efficiency of my bandsaw (record power BS350). Most of the saw chips where not sucked in the lower guiding wheel case but thrown out in the area between the table and the lower guiding blocks.
So I designed and printed an additional upper dust hood, which is also directly connected with the dust extraction port on the backside of the machine. To be able to still tilt the table after installation (which I rarely do on mine), the upper section can be taken off without additional tools. It simply snaps into place. Be aware that the insertion will be done from left to right before clicking it on the part mounted to the bandsaw frame (refer to the attached photos).
What you will need in addition to the printed parts:
- 8 magnets 8x2,5mm
- 2 allen screws M3x15
- 3 allen screws M4x12
The 45° corner in the lower part needs to be printed twice. I tried to avoid support structures as good as possible, however some are still mandatory. The mangets should be glued into place. Otherwise the chance to get them loose by vibrations is high.
In my case the dust performance significantly improved.
