A lucky little Robot Sentry, Number 13, has arrived to defend your desk from the evil AI of rogue Dummy 13 androids. Will the storm of electro-magnetically-propelled incendiary steel rounds stop the attack? Will the dual deflector units be enough to deflect incoming fire? Only time and print quality will tell. Unfortunately, Number 13 suffers from a manufacturing defect: it's designer forgot to put the “13” logo on it's right-flank. Alas, Number 13 has no feelings on the situation, it's AI is limited to target acquisition, not the rogue-inducing complexities of emotion, yuck. Wait… was that distaste? An emotional response…
This was inspired by the Robot Sentries from the movie Aliens (Special Edition) and the C-RAM air defense system. I had some parts from a minigun project I've been tinkering with for a year and decided to try cobbling stuff together. And I like miniguns.
The only real 13-series parts are heavily modified and comprise the armature of the Tripod. I modified the lower leg segment, lower and upper arm segments, elbow clips became C-clips on the feet, and a ball from an arm segment mingled with some C-clips to become the hub. The whole tripod can fold up, and has swivel movement at the minigun receiver.
The Ammo Chain is fully print-in-place, but it's easy to print multiple chains and link them together.
I've included both individual and plated parts. I printed mine in ABS. Some of the holes were perfect, some were loose, so the barrels, telemetry module, and side greebles all had to be glued on mine, but your mileage may vary depending on print settings and material. Starbond is awesome stuff. Drop in some glue, keep moving the parts to keep them from bonding, should make a tighter fit. Alternatively, if it's too tight before using glue* just hit the affected joint with a heat gun for a few seconds and fit things together. Don't hold your heat gun up to it more than 5 seconds at a time. Works like a charm on Dummy 13 assembly. It goes without saying, don't use the heatgun on glued areas. The heated glue vapors will blind you. Ask me how I know.
Printed on an X1C, 0.2mm LH, 3 walls, 15% cubic, normal supports at 45 degrees. snug with blocker on the upper section of the barrels. 3mf not included.
The author remixed this model.
Uses modified armature parts from Dummy 13 for the Tripod. The rest is original.
