This is a mechanical door stopper that can be operated with the foot.

The locker part (in black) can be switched between two positions: pushed down to block the door, pulled up to release the door.

Requirements

  • A gap of at least 7mm between the door and the floor
  • PETG filament, for the flexible part. PLA will work, but won't last very long
  • One M3 screw with a length between 7 and 10mm (recommended)
  • Screws or double sided tape to mount on the door
  • Optional flexible filament for the TPU foot. You can also glue some kind of rubber instead of printing the foot

Printing

  • The “base” part can be printed in any filament (I used white PLA)
  • If you see de-lamination on the flexible part after a few uses, you can re-print the part with:
    • Lowered print speed (feed rate)
    • Increased hotend temperature
    • Increased flow rate
  • The optional TPU foot is a very small part, and requires turning on the parts fan

Post processing

  • Assemble the base and stopper parts together. The small triangle ends should fit in their slots. If the pieces are too loose don't worry, they shouldn't move with the M3 screw holding down the moving part
  • Screw down the M3 screw into the plastic, but don't tighten it too much, the stopper part must be able to move freely
  • Place the optional TPU foot in the slot on the stopper part. You may need some glue to prevent it from falling down

Mounting

  • The “base” part is meant to be held only on the underside of the door, to avoid adding visible holes / tape marks on the visible parts of the door.
  • If using screws, you'll need to dismount the door and screw down the “base” part on the underside of the door
  • If using double sided tape, just place the tape where the screw holes are.
  • If the gap between the door and the floor is too large, use some wood or cardboard shims to lower stopper mount

Revisions

  • 2023-10-23: reduced circle size and blade length on the stopper part to get more strength, added optional TPU foot
