Tesla Model Y Berlin jack pad hack

Like most modern cars, Teslas have to be lifted at very specific points to avoid damaging the battery and the structure. 

There are 4 circular housings under the rocker panels, where special jack pads must be inserted prior to lifting. Those basically look like hockey pucks topped with a 25 mm diameter centering pin, they are availiable in a nice carrying case for 25 € at Amazon, Aliexpress etc... and are theoretically compatible with all Tesla models.

I bought one set before I received my Model Y,  but was disappointed not to be able to use it when I needed to lift the car to change its wheels. Indeed, it seems that for some reason Tesla downsized the diameter of the housing for the centering pin from 25mm to ~20mm on all Model Y that are made at Gigafactory Berlin

Despite extensive searches I couldn't find any jack pads suitable for my car, so I hacked the regular set I bought on Amazon : 

1/ sawed off the original pin and flatten the surface with an angle grinder fitted with a flap disc so that you end up with a nice flat puck

2/ printed 4 copies of 20.3 mm diameter centering pin with a flexible filament ( I used FilaFlex 40 on a Prusa MK3S )

3/ fixed the pins in the centre of the pucks with 3 x 30 mm self-drilling Torx countersunk screws

4/ enjoy ;)

The hack It works flawlessly and is very pleasant to use because of flexible filament. As the pin diameter is 0.5 mm bigger than the housing diameter, you have to apply a very very low amount of pressure to fit the pad in the housing, then it provides enough friction to keep the pad securely stuck in the housing as long as you need it to.

If you haven't bought a 25 mm regular jack pad set yet, I guess you can start directly from a hockey puck - basic entry level ones seem to be pretty cheap online
