BOM:

  • 1x PC4-M6 Fitting (has to be M6 -- M10 won't fit, also it won't stop the PTFE tube from slipping towards the extruder), you will also need a wrench to screw in the fitting.
  • 4x M3x10 screw, can be longer but not shorter, cylindrical head no larger than 4.9mm diameter, 3mm tall screw head will be flush
  • 4x M3 nut, 3mm thickness will be flush on the backside
  • printed in Sunlu PLA+ Black, but I guess most filaments will work, PLA+ is BY FAR strong enough so regular PLA will do no problem.
  • I printed it with 3 wall loops and 15% gyroid infill, but can also be reduced to 2 walls I guess

I wanted to sturdily but non-destructively, non-permanently and most importantly non-obstructively mount a PTFE fitting to my spool holder so I can print directly out of a dry-box. This little holder-thingy allows you to do just that.

The fitting is mounted in between the (potentially) two filament spools, blocking neither, and can directly feed into the filament sensor.

The fitting should be mounted on the flat side so that the filament exits towards the extruder on the conical side, free to move in any direction. There is no threads designed in the model so you will need a wrench to screw in the fitting, the fitting will cut it's own threads!

I designed it for the Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro, but I guess it fits a lot of other printers too. The clamp inner dimensions are designed for a spool holder that's got a 30mm wide and 20mm deep base-column.

If you need different clamp dimensions feel free to remix.

Edit: if you print this for a different printer it would be awesome to share a make, so others can check if their model has already been tried and tested, thank you :)
