I couldn't find a record weight model that quite fit what I wanted, so I designed my own. It uses 114 US pennies for weight (could vary slightly if you're using old/worn pennies) and comes in at about 350g. I went with a geometric design on the sides and a galaxy spiral on top to give a nice effect when spinning whether you're looking at it from the top or side. Looks great printed in PLA Silk! I went with Bambu PLA Silk Copper / SUNLU PLA+ Silk Black to match my Klipsch speakers, but I think it'd look really neat printed with a dual or multi-tonal silk filament.

Notes:

  • There should be enough clearance between the edge of the record label and the perimeter of this model, but with all things that move, use at your own risk and just pay attention to it the first few times you use it to make sure there's enough clearance between this model and the needle cartridge/tone arm when it reaches the end of play on your record player. Since this model isn't just a smooth circle it will slap your needle cartridge/tone arm eight times per rotation if there isn't clearance.
  • I used glue to assemble (a dab on top of each penny stack and sparsely on the top surface of the body), but the hub on the lid fits snugly into the base, so I'd say that's optional.
  • I added adhesive-backed felt on the bottom surface, but that's also optional (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0813KN856)
  • I designed this for use on my Fluance turntable (RT85N)
