V2.5 Qidi X-Plus 3 Side Mount System

The scope of this model just kept growing as I added more options. For that reason, v2.5 is kind of a soft restart. The v2.5 models work with the previous v1 and v2 models but they have been refined quite a bit for better customization and printability. The OpenSCAD scripts that produce the models have also been rewritten pretty much from the ground up for better reuse and modification.

The result of all of this is there are a huge variety of models that can be produced now, particularly for the mounting plates. There's just no way to upload every possible configuration. So I've uploaded what I feel are the most useful versions. If something different is desired, try downloading and using the OpenSCAD scripts.

I've also moved most of the detailed instructions to a PDF file to keep this description smaller. It was just getting out of hand. I think the models and pictures should be enough for most people now. If there're any questions about how to print the models or how to use them, take a look at that PDF. Instructions for using the OpenSCAD scripts are also in the PDF.

Make sure to check out my extended post cap model. This allows you to mount the Qidi dry box with the lid facing in to get a better filament exit angle. This might be useful when mounting the dry box on the left side of the printer.

!!!WARNING!!!

The models included with this system will require drilling holes into the side of the printer inside of the handle recess. The user needs to verify the correctness of all models and instructions before drilling these holes. The user should also verify that they have the proper tools and skills to successfully make this modification to the printer. The user assumes all responsibilities for the modification to their printer.

You will be tempted, but DO NOT use the mounted spool holder as a handle to lift or carry the printer. The Qidi X-Plus 3 is a heavy printer. The spool holder and this mount are not designed for that kind of weight. If you don't heed this warning, at the very least you WILL break the mount. There is also a very real possibility that you can damage your printer.
