Bed rail mounts for Jamie G's ChironWire project, I had seen some variences of this design floating around online, but ended up designing these to acompany Jamie's design properly. These 3.5mm mounts have been design to allow the bed to be mounted without having to drill the plate. A process that I myself found terrifying. When mounted it sits perfectly fine along with the 8mm spacers that Jamie recommends in his install.

When installing make sure that the recessed screw holes are facing upward and that the ears for the bolts are facing in toward the belt. You will use the existing bolts that were removed during the removal of the wheels and those same stock holes to mount the bed back to the rails. Check images for better idea of exact placement.

UPDATE 11/3/23:

I've added a V2.0 of the mounts that fixes a problem of not being able to utilize the full travel when using 450mm long rails. The original versions will still work fine on 500mm long rails as you have access to the larger travel range. However I would recommend using the V2 mounts whereever possible as they provide better stability. The new mounts screw through the two holes in the middle of the bed mount on each side. The second image shows the correct mounting position, along with marking showing Jamie's original drill holes. This version better matches the intended drill pattern for Jamie's setup.

You will need:

8 x M3 x 6mm screws for each mount (based on using 2 rail blocks per rail) per side. For a total of 16 screws overall

2x M6 x 14mm OR M6 x 16mm (if intended to use nuts for tighting) per side. For a total of 4 screws overall. The M6x14 screws do thread into the plastic nicely, so you don't really need to utilize a nut if you don't want to.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

These are solid bed plate mounts that can be used to avoid having to drill your bed. They will ultimately sacrifice 3.5mm of build height however.
