This is a quick release plate that allows you to quickly attach and detach your camera to/from your tripod.
It's for the Hama Traveller 2 model.
It's an amazing Tripod that I got for free because the plate was missing. Since it's an older model you can no longer get a replacement part.
This is my first 3d printing project! As soon as I got my 3D printer I remembered the tripod that was abandoned in drawer at home. I also saw the replacement part contest and so I got to work immediately.
It's not entirely finished though…
It turns out that the standard camera mounting screw is UNC which is super hard to find in my country…
I had the idea then of printing a screw(a standard FreeCAD model) and in terms of detail it came out great but it's not tough enough for me to trust it with my camera…
As soon as I get a standard metal screw I'll adapt the 3d model to it. I'll also clean up the model since its a drafting model and it's a mess!
In spite all of that I think it turned out pretty good! 3D printed parts are much much stronger than I expected so I'm already thinking of a ton of new projects to tackle next.
