I publish this design to give an example of the small-big problems that can be solved with a 3D printer. Checking the mainsail sheet traveler car I discovered that the cover was broken and was losing the bearings it contained. The traveler car is useless without the bearings and a sailboat needs the mainsail sheet car to be able to sail. Because it was discontinued, it was impossible to find the replacement part. A similar new traveler car can cost around €200-300, the printed part, excluding the design, costs €2 and the plastic €0.40!
I printed the piece with ABS four years ago and it is still working, but, because it is outside, it is better to print it with ASA. To make it more resistant, it is printed with 100% infill. It only has supports on the horizontal overhangs where the screws are housed.
