After printing, I recommend using M3 screws and heat set nuts to fasten everything together.

It should go together much easier than the previous V1 version.

There are two versions of the top case.  One is designed to fit the better metal female jack found on Amazon (it's the one with the knurling facing the outside of the case and is all silver).  That plug makes a better connection than the supplied plug.  You can simply cut and solder the wires from the PSU connector to the non-stock plug if you want to do this.  If not, you can use the supplied stock plug from game-tech, but they requre that you modify your male DC plug before use otherwise it won't make a good connection.

The file with the word “vanilla” in the title is designed to fit the plug that comes with the ReN64 PSU board.

The files with the words “non-stock-metal" are designed to fit this plug: https://www.amazon.com/Fancasee-Female-Socket-Connector-Adapter/dp/B07Y8MFCJD/ref=sr_1_2?crid=9AMDNEK2NKSF&keywords=2.1+5.5+female+jack+metal&qid=1697419550&s=electronics&sprefix=2.1+5.5+female+jack+meta%2Celectronics%2C269&sr=1-2
That is the metal female jack I experimented with and have never had connection issues with male plugs.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I thickened the tab that snaps into the N64 console to make it easier to remove the PSU if necessary.  I revised the case to be consistent with the new V2 board that has the integrated onboard plug.

There are two versions of the top of the case:

The “stock” version will accommodate the included plug that game-tech supplies with a PSU board.  I find the stock female plug to be annoying because it requires that you modify your male 5.5 x 2.1 barrel plug to get it to make a good connection in most cases.

The “metal plug” version is for people that want to use the metal female 5.5 x 2.1mm jacks that are very good quality found on Amazon.  They have a larger O.D. than the plug supplied by game-tech.  The plug is shallower and is compatible with everything I've tried it with compared to the other one.  If you don't know what plug I'm talking about, it has knurling on the exterior plug and the nut is supposed to be installed inside the case  I designed the case so that you should be able to thread the plug directly into the case by twisting the plug into the plastic.  You probably won't need the supplied nut, although you can still use it.

Another change I made is that I prefer to use heat set nuts.  I designed the entire case to be able to take M3 screws with 5mm long heat set nuts.  The heat set nuts can be any length so long as they don't push into anything inside the case.

I quite prefer the look of the 3D printed case over the plexiglass case supplied by game-tech.  I am extremely happy with the board that goes in this case, and it really adds a lot to the N64.  It basically turns the N64 into a fully portable system that can be run from a battery backup on pure DC power.

I've used this to play N64 outside with my wife.  It really allows it to be free of the wall power if you want to do that.
