UPDATE: I released a new version of this adapter, which is rotated by 90deg so you will not limit the X and Z axis with the stepper motor. You can find it here
Adapter for the official Creality Direct Drive gantry released for Ender 3 + Dual Gear extruder to be used with the Hero Me Gen 5.
I am not sure if Creality still sells it, but it's the one seen in this video by CHEP
Print it with the extruder-side down, with supports touching the buildplate.
Use high infill (80%+) - it is a structural part. I printed it with PETG.
Since the dual gear extruder is quite high I chose to have the stepper on the back side to balance it better, otherwise the stepper would be sticking forward too much to my taste, however this comes with a price - you are going to lose about 1cm of the build width on each side. This will also require adjusting the FW to limit the width (204mm in my case), otherwise the stepper will be hitting the Z extrusions.
After fitting this I think it should be also possible to fit it sideways (rotated 90deg), which would still keep the stepper pretty much in the center of mass and not limit the build width.. so in the future I might design this updated adapter. Already released here
UPDATE: Added gantry X-axis endstop extender - since the gantry can't travel that far to the left, due to the stepper motor, this extends the gantry to reach the switch, it screws with one M3 screw and a nut to one of two little holes on the OEM gantry (the one farther from the edge)
