This is a complete skirt mod for Voron 2.4.
The version for Voron Tridents can be found here: https://www.printables.com/model/644512-flat-mesh-skirt-voron-trident-alpha-version
Belt guards
I don't use stock skirts on my Vorons because the coarse hexagon skirt allows for fingers to pass through and I also prefer other aesthetics. The aim here is on one side to keep the skirt as open to airflow as possible while closing up electronics bay as much as possible to make it more in line with regular consumer electronic equipment.
The flat mesh is not built into the STL files, instead it is created only at slicer level via modification volume. The reason for this is that the slicer can create a more robust yet finer mesh than a regular sliced STL file. The honeycomb infill has no line crossings, while the printing direction is rotated every layer by 120°. This way it is a truly woven mesh. To prevent breakin off of the mesh from the frame, the modifier volume extends into the frame in the middle layers, effectively fusing it at its edge into the frame. The result is light, fine yet very robust.
To print the mesh correctly you need to open the 3mf files as project in Prusa Slicer or mimic the slicer settings in other slicers using the frame part stl and its respective modifier file. Be aware that the mesh direction does not rotate with the object. You can rotate the mesh direction by changing the infill angle.
The infill% defines the size of the mesh. At the given setting the mesh has the very size and depth that when seen from the side the mesh looks almost solid while from the front it looks fairly open. The settings are for 0.4 mm nozzles. If you use larger nozzles like eg 0.6, also the lanes making up the mesh will be wider.
Mesh Modifier Stock settings:
0.42 mm line width
60° infill angle ←needs to be changed if mesh does not align with skirt
22% honeycomb infill (no perimeter, no bottom/top layer) ←for 0.4mm nozzles, you can change the density of the mesh easily by changing the infill percentage, to your liking. 0.6mm nozzles need a higher percentage for a similar mesh density.
Some parts require supports, all supported areas are inside the assembly once completed. The necessary supports are already in place in the 3mf files.
The Logo is designed for illumination with 7 neopixel LEDs. The neopixel LEDs need to be soldered in line and can be inserted in the respective LED holders. This is however optional. The skirt also looks complete without LEDs.
The skirts are designed for a power inlet which is deviating from stock recommendations (Schurter DD12.9121.111) but which is actually not much more expensive but from a trusted brand and which requires less crimping and fewer cables as filter and switcher are integrated into one.
There is an alternative back_skirt_left designed for the stock inlet filter + switch combination, if you choose the stock power inlet, you only need to replace that one part.
The bottom panel can be installed like with stock skirts.
Side Skirt
40x40 fans are mounted by pressfit into the side skirts. Optionally one can install the heatsets and print the mounting brackets for addtional security. The brackets are designed to be used with some additional EPD tape at the extrusions and should slide into the side intentations of the fan. (Not tested yet).
The slim lower side wall of the fan mount, is a bit fragile and I recommend covering that slim wall on both sides in a slim film of superglue (low viscosity is easier to work with but regular one should work too) and let it fully dry before trying to insert the fans.
39x M3 Voron style heat inserts (M3x5x4) (https://www.kris3d.de/products/heatinserts-m3x5x4?_pos=1&_sid=886fd1c22&_ss=r)
2x M3 x 6 mm countersunk head cap screws DIN7991
8x M3 x 6 mm button head screws ISO 7380-1
20x M3 x 6 mm socket head cap screw DIN912 / ISO4762
22x M3 x 8 mm socket head cap screw DIN912 / ISO4762
4x M3 x 10 mm socket head cap screw DIN912 / ISO4762
The side skirts should be compatible with 6020 and 6025 fans in general. Compatibility has been tested specifically with Sunon 60252V1-1000U-A99 (FAN-ML 6025 24V: Lüfter 60x60x25mm - 24V - 0,058A bei reichelt elektronik) and Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX (https://www.reichelt.at/)
The Back_Skirt_Left is designed for following power inlet:
Schurter DD12.9121.111 (https://www.digikey.at/de/products/detail/schurter-inc/DD12-9121-111/1646889)
Optional:
Alternative Back_Skirt_Left for stock power inlet and switch (https://www.digikey.at/en/products/detail/te-connectivity-corcom-filters/3-1609115-3/2032291 and
https://www.digikey.at/en/products/detail/zf-electronics/WRG32F2FBBNN/446050)
Alternative Back_Skirt_Left for IEC_GS-1-100 (combined inlet+switch, without filter; https://www.digikey.at/en/products/detail/adam-tech/IEC-GS-1-100/9831135)
The logo can be illuminated with 7 neopixels of the same used in the Stealthburner (https://www.digikey.at/de/products/detail/adafruit-industries-llc/4776/13550158)
