My son and I talked about this a bit ago, and the keytag design contest made it happen.

This is a logo from the game of the year “Borderlands”  Maliwan is the corporation that makes elemental firearms.

*This is an intricate print, if you want this to look and work well, it will take a little effort.

Print the white body standing on the long edge, no supports.  I used Duramic PLA+ white 212/65.

Print the black body laying face down on the print bed.  You want the surface of the print bed to create the outer (readable) surface.  I used Duramic PLA+ black 212/65.

Print the tiny triangles the same way.  I used Duramic PLA+ 212/65.

  1. Assemble the glued parts prior to printing the orange frame.
  2. Glue the black bodies to the white body.  Prepare one side at a time.  brush glue on the surface of the back of the black body, paying special attention to include the little pointed areas in the A, M, and W.  (I used 2 clamps to press the pieces together while they were setting up.
  3. Glue the tiny triangles to the white body.  I used superglue with a paint brush end.  (I don't think the triangles are equilateral.)  I had to “clean” my triangles from strings.
  4. After its dry, place medium/fine sandpaper on a flat surface, and gently sand the edges to make them flush if they aren't perfect.

After those steps, you are ready to print the orange frame.

  1. Use a slicer than you can pause the print on.  I used Cura.  First slice the orange frame laying flat on the bed.  Then slowly slide the preview slider down until the top overlap disappears.  (on mine it disappeared at layer 42).  Then go to the menu options:

Extension> Post Processing> Modify Gcode> Add a script> Pause at height> change the “pause at” option to “layer number” and enter the layer number where the overlap disappeared. (mine was layer 42)  This will pause the printer before it encases the glue together sections in a one piece frame.  I set the stand by temp to my normal nozzle temp.

      2. Don't use supports for the upper lip, they will get in the way.

when the printer is paused, carefully check the interior of the frame to see if you need to remove any strings or a blob.  Without knocking the print loose, place the glued pieces into the partially printed frame. (the tops should be flush, make sure its seated fully)

     3. Hit resume on your printer, and it will finish the frame using the glued parts as the supports.

This stuff is so small so print more than you need, that way you can pick the nicer components if some don't make it.

*update 12/19/2023 “no gap” .stl for those with multicolor printers
