Hypo Periscope

Soon it will be time to change wheels with summer tires to wheels with winter tires. If you do it yourself as I do, you know how hard it is to match 5 wheel bolts with respecitvely holes in wheel's rim. These details are out of your sight, when you are trying to lift heavy wheel and at the same time match the holes with the bolts. 

Therefore I developed this sort perscope, by help of a cell phone and a mirror. The whole device will be hanged round your nack. You are looking down in cell phones display, while the camera is loocking 90 degrees in front of wehicle's axle and its bolts. 

Bill of Materials: 

• except all printed details,
• screw M3x12 - 14 mm, allen head screw (ISO4762) or torx scrw (ISO 10664)
• a bit of mirror 16x80x3 mm
• polyamide (nylon) belt, 18-20 mm, length of 1 to 1.5 m aprox. 
• quick glue
• rubber band, 1-2 pcs
• your cell phone, preferably with zoom function, up to 3 times is enough

Assembly instruction: 

1. assemble mirror and its frame. Put some drops of quick glue, preventing frame to open. 
2. place rubber bands on the shelf
3. place mirror frame by help of two screws into periscope holder
4. use tow belt buckles to attach belt, according to provided pictures

Use of this periscope: 

Cell phone shelf may be mounted according to your wish and placement of the cell phone's lens. It can be mounted to get lens openings on left or right hand side. 

Attach one or two rubber bands for phone keeping in place. Place your cell phone on the shelf by help of rubber bands.

Place mirror frame in down position (45°C relative to phone shelf).

Hang the belt round your nack. Adjust belt's length, to get down aprox. to your elbows. The fine tuning will be adjusted when you trying to see wheel bolts through holes of your tires rim. Now, when you can see it, it is much easier to adjust holes positions and attach a wheel onto the bolts and secure it with a wheel nut… 

The most cell phones does have wide angle lens. Better result will be obtained if your phone has zoom function. Zoom of 1 to 3 is enough to get best view window in front of your hands. 

You are looking onto cell phone's screen, the cell phone is looking in front of you…
