I wanted to have a small smoke detector in each of the chambers of my Lack Stack. But I didn't want the thing sticking way into the chamber. So, I made this little pocket mount that recesses up into the base of the next shelf, or through one of the side panels.
The Kidde 19040 is an affordable, small, battery powered smoke detector. Easy to install in most enclosure designs, this is a must for any home setup.
This first pass is snug fitting. This requires about 22mm of depth to mount and can be secured with just a few wood screws. I think this one is a little too snug, though, and should probably be printed at 102% or 103%.
Rev 2 is a bit bigger, with a little room for airflow around the smoke detector. The back of the pocket is a little nicer, as well.
