The most common iPad kickstand case design found on Amazon was not designed to be durable. The tab which keeps the kickstand engaged is very flimsy. Even under normal use this tab is likely to break off after very few uses. The original designers tell you that you need to throw away the whole case and buy another one, but I changed that.
This replacement design puts the kickstand prop tab on the inner plate of the case, allowing the tab to be thicker, reducing the likelihood of failure. The tab is still thin enough to easily engage and disengage the kickstand.
NOTE: the screw holes on this replacement do not come pre-tapped. Make sure to apply a good amount of pressure to avoid stripping the screws as you are screwing in this part. Also, beware of cross-threading!
NOTE: many other iPad cases on Amazon use this identical design, not just the one listed here. If you don't see your model here, try printing it before you throw out your case!
