This part is to replace one side of the adjustable plastic clamp that holds the canopy at different angles.
The flat adjusting turn knob on the bolt that goes through, can be loosened and tightened against this part to allow the canopy roof frame to be positioned at different angles.
The original plastic part cracked across the 2 screw holes which hold the bar perpendicular to the clamp. You can see the other side in my photos, the original part is still holding up. Without both sides being properly supported, the canopy would have to come off or I could have bought a whole new replacement canopy for around $70USD. Instead, I designed this replacement part to match the original, but slightly thicker in the area that the original cracked.
I am sharing this model for the first time so anyone can use and extend the life of their canopy on their outdoor swing. Feel free to remix and use at your discretion!
The provided orientation (with the flat side down) does not require support. Other recommendations: 45%-70% infill, 3-5mm wall thickness.
If you compare the model to my photos, you’ll see the teeth are warn down some, and the tips have been sheered off at the layer lines because it was not properly loosened before adjustment one-too-many times, but it still holds!
The initial prototype has obvious layer separation and bottom warpage, but it has outlasted the printer it was printed on - a Folgertech i3 using a cheap gray ABS without an enclosure. After testing out the fit, it was snug and held well - I figured I would just see how long it would last before I printed a better looking one. I may soon print a new one in black to match the painted metal.
This specific patio swing was purchased at Walmart several years ago and doesn’t appear to be sold anymore. There are very similar models sold by different brands that this may fit on. Some reference links:
