I have some aluminium chairs for my balcony an I noticed that one of the feet was missing. I created this design to plug the hole so the aluminium does not scratch the floor. The STL and GCODE files included here are a good fit for the popular “JYSK PADHOLM” chair which I tested with.
The fit could be a bit tight so you might have to use a hammer to get the plug in the hole. This way the part won't come off so easily as well.
The model was created with Fusion 360 and can be customised to fit a variety of different tube sizes. This design can also be used to create plugs for all sorts of different tubes and is not limited to furniture.
To customise the model, just open the f3d file and click on “Modify” → “Change Parameters”. Here you can set different values for the tube width, material thickness and the foot height.
I have printed this with PETG for good temperature stability and overall strength. I also made the bottom part of the foot with 100% infill and kept the upper part at 20%. This ensures maximum wear resistance at the bottom but also saves a bit of material. To do this, you can use a height range modifier in PrusaSlicer.
Happy printing!
