In an inspection of the headsail furler, I discovered that one of the insert bearings was missing. Because the repair was urgent and because the replacement part did not arrive on time, I decided to design and print it myself in 3D.
I printed the replacement part with ABS because it was the strongest plastic I had at that time, but if you have a more resistant material: nylon, polycarbonate, composites..., it is better to use them.
Due to the inner attrition of the bearing, (due to friction with the steel cable), it is advisable to print it with 100% infill. I printed it with supports to give it a cleaner interior finish, but I think it can also be printed without them and the piece will fulfill its function just as well.
