Since many of the new Chamberlin/LiftMaster garage door openers do not have removable light covers, including mine, I decided to make an enclosure to prevent any shorts and keep the PCB properly protected.

This is an enclosure for the ratgdo v2.x PCB. It features a removable snap fit lid which is also reversible.

Special thanks to @justinsmonty_948725 for their patience, measurements, and time to be able to support v2.5i.

Special thanks to @MichaelUhlman_998494 for the loaner v2.53i board! You were invaluable to getting this version out for folks!

There are 2 sets of STL options and 6 board variants.

  • Heat Insert (Recommended)
    • v2.53i - Integrated ESP
    • v2.52i - Integrated ESP
    • v2.5i - Integrated ESP
    • v2.5 - Removable ESP
    • v2.0 - 19mm Hole Spacing- Removable ESP
    • v2.0 - 12.8mm Hole Spacing- Removable ESP
  • M3 Self Tapping (Screws go directly into the plastic)
    • v2.53i - Integrated ESP
    • v2.52i - Integrated ESP
    • v2.5i - Integrated ESP
    • v2.5 - Removable ESP
    • v2.0 - 19mm Hole Spacing- Removable ESP
    • v2.0 - 12.8mm Hole Spacing- Removable ESP

Strain Relief for v2.52i:

The strain relief for 2.52i is optional but recommended, as the connectors are fragile. It has been tested with both 2mm and 2.5mm wide zip ties, 2mm is recommended. It has been purposely designed so the board can be installed in situ with the wires still attached to the PCB.

There are recesses built into the lid in the event that the zip tie head sits proud of the case top.

Determining your hole spacing for v2.0:

The measurement corresponds to the arc tangent of each hole. In other words, hole edge to hole edge. You can measure your hole spacing like below to determine which variant you have. If you do not have calipers then a ruler in centimeters can also be used.

Another way to differentiate v2.0 12.8mm vs v2.0 19mm is the 19mm has copyright text in the middle and the 12.8mm does not.

Mounting Methods

  • Magnets!
  • Screw mount with back strap to be able to mount using preexisting punched/slotted angle
  • Zip tie

Bill of Materials:

Print Settings:

  • 4 Perimeters/walls
  • 25% infill
  • 0.4mm line width
  • 5 top and bottom layers
  • Parts are pre oriented in the correct position for printing
  • No supports!

Changelog:

  • 01/17/24: Updated to include v2.53i
  • 12/12/23: Updated to include v2.52i
  • 11/20/23: Added ESP32 D1 mini support for v2.5.
  • 11/19/23: Added LOLIN D1 Mini v4 support for v2.5. STLs may work for other ESP variants. Feel free to report which ones in the comments.
  • 11/15/23: Updated to include v2.5i
  • 11/09/23: Updated base and back straps for v2.5 to be slightly wider for punched/slotted angle mounting. Only the ears have been changed by a few mm. These changes do not require a reprint unless you are experiencing issues mounting on punched/slotted angle using the back strap.
  • 11/07/23: Updated to include v2.5!
  • 10/19/23: Updated self tapping versions to have tighter holes so the screws dig in a bit more.
  • 10/18/23: Uploaded new files to account for hole spacing change. This seems to have been a more recent change for PCBs shipped/delivered around this date. Both hole spacing variants are still marked as “v2.0” of the PCB.
