After all the beautiful rain models published recently the only thing in my head was a certain song, so I had to do something about it. Here it is!
If you would like to view the 3D model in colour in your browser and with optional AR, this is available directly at the Shapr3D viewer here.
Special mention to 3DPrintBunny whose work I respect, especially for bringing techniques used in the model above to the community.
The above model was printed using Extrudr NX2 mattes - Black, Metallic and Epic Purple, which happen to be exactly the same size as Bambu spools, i.e. great for the AMS. They are more contrasting than pictured due to the lighting needed to capture this dark purple.
Printing
This model is optimised to be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle and a 0.2mm layer height. A version preconfigured for Bambu Studio is available as well as a STEP file for other platforms. Please ensure arachne walls are selected - they should be already in the Bambu version provided.
The Bambu model is pre-painted, however you are absolutely able to change the colours of the top, back, bottom and individual lines of rain separately should you wish in the slicer.
Please remove this very carefully from the build plate as minor flexing or poking the rain even gently could cause a breakage. I remove this by carefully using a scraper around the brim at either end first, then sliding a ruler underneath it very slowly and carefully.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
