This is a collection of chair leg pads for round and square chair legs, from 5 mm diameter to 50 mm diameter. The pads are designed to print with a flexible filament such as TPU. All designs are available both in STL and STEP format.
The STEP files can be opened and modified directly in Fusion360 and Prusaslicer and are more accurate than STL files.
Normal Mode:
Measure the diameter of your chair legs with a caliper or a ruler (or measure the length of the side for square legs). Download the round or square file (either STL or STEP from the “round” or “square” folder) with the corresponding file name and enjoy the print. The file name contains the internal diameter (or internal side length) in millimetres. See the other printing suggestions below.
Vase Mode:
Measure the diameter of your chair legs with a caliper or a ruler (or measure the length of the side for square legs). Download the round or square file (either STL or STEP from the “round_vase_mode” or “square_vase_mode” folder) with the corresponding file name. The file name contains the diameter (or side length) in millimetres. The X and Y dimensions of the pad fit the selected dimension, so rescale the X and Y dimensions before slicing the object. To rescale the object, add two times the thickness of the nozzle (in vase mode you have one wall on each side). See the other printing suggestions below.
Example:
You have a round chair leg with a 15 mm diameter and your nozzle is a standard 0.4 mm. From the “round_vase_mode” folder download “circle_15.stl” (or from “round_vase_mode_step” download “circle_15.step”. Open the file in your slicer and check the X and Y dimensions (16,95 mm). Add the dimension of your walls:
X/Y corrected_dimension = X size + 2 * nozzle_diameter * number of walls
In this example:
X/Y corrected_dimension = 16,95 + 2 * 0.4 * 1 = 17,75.
Set the X and Y scale to 17,75 mm, slice the model and enjoy the print.
Fake Vase Mode (recommended):
Fake Vase Mode is a great alternative to Vase Mode since you can add more perimeter walls. You can find a nice explanation in this video. In summary, Fake Vase Mode consists in:
So you can simply follow the Vase Mode instructions with a different number of walls. For the correct X and Y dimensions follow the formula:
X/Y corrected_dimension = X size + 2 * nozzle_diameter * number of walls
See the other printing suggestions below.
Example:
You have a round chair leg with a 15 mm diameter and your nozzle is a standard 0.4 mm, you want to use 3 walls. From the “round_vase_mode” folder download “circle_15.stl” (or from “round_vase_mode_step” download “circle_15.step”. Open the file in your slicer and check the X and Y dimensions (16,95 mm).
Add the dimension of your walls: 16,95 + 2 * 0.4 * 3 = 19,35. Set the X and Y scale to 19,35 mm, slice the model and enjoy the print.
Filament suggested:
TPU

No
Suggestion:
Use sequential printing (or print "one at a time" mode in Cura) to reduce TPU stringing between pads.
